Suhayla Al Sheikh is a jewelry designer and the founder of Sandbox Jewelry. Ever since the age of 5, Suhayla has had a strong passion for art. Having been raised by a mother who is a jewelry designer herself and a father who is a photographer has constantly helped nourish her artistic side. When she was 18, her technically realistic paintings and drawings won her an artistic achievement award signed by President Barack Obama, which further fortified her love for art and pushed her to study Visual Arts.

Suhayla, then, started creating conceptual and experimental works. She found in this form of artistic expression a refuge from all that is draining in the everyday life.

In summer 2015, Suhayla accompanied her mother on a trip to her stone store. It was that day and that very trip that gave birth to the idea of incorporating concepts and experiments into jewelry. Then, in summer 2016 she launched “Sandbox”. Through her jewelry, Suhayla aims to share the raw essence of conceptual art with the world, positioning her creations as empowering works of wearable art, based on experiments, and research-based concepts.
